My master bath makeover

I was originally going to go all out with new tile, vanity and medicine cabinet, but since the bathroom is only 5'X8' I decided instead just to paint, get a new shower curtain, towels, towel bars and bath rugs.  Pre-makeover, the bathroom had a hideous pink and blue seashell border at the top of the wall and the walls were pink.  After living here for 6 years it was time for a change.  I love it!  The picture isn't the best, it is hard to get a good picture of such a small bathroom.

The power of straight hair

Last November, while hanging Christmas lights, I accidently killed all the outlets in the garage.  Apparently it is bad to put a staple through the cord and then plug the lights in.  Well, Jamie looked at the circuit breaker and that was fine, but all the outlets were out.  I asked him to call an electrician but he said he would look into it some more before admitting that he needed professional help.  I kept nagging him to fix it or call someone, but nothing ever happened so I had lights hung all Christmas season, but I was never able to turn them on.

This past weekend Jamie started cutting holes in the ceiling of the garage to see if he could find the wire that might be bad…

And still, he got nowhere.  So today I decided to straighten my hair, but the outlet in my bathroom was also out, although I assumed this was a separate issue.  So, I took my hair straightener into Jake’s bathroom, but that outlet was also out, although his outlet has a set/reset button.  So I reset his outlet and it worked.  I then checked my bathroom and that outlet also worked.  Then I decided that maybe since both bathrooms are above the garage, maybe the garage outlets worked.  And sure enough, they work!!!

So all winter I was without Christmas lights and the answer to the problem was in Jake’s bathroom!  So now I will be nagging Jamie all Spring to fix the holes he made in the ceiling!

Happy St. Patty's Day! I am wearing a green shirt today and I dressed Jake up in a green St. Patrick's Day shirt, but he is feeling very sick and crappy so I didn't take a picture of him. To those that go out on this day, please be safe and drink responsibly.

Oscar Night

Tonight is Oscar Night, the 82nd Academy Awards.  Last Saturday I went to AMC theaters where they showed 5 of the 10 best picture nominated movies.  I saw Avatar, Up, A Serious Man and Precious.  I didn’t stay to see District 9.  Yesterday Mom went to AMC to see the other 5 best picture nominations, Up in the Air, Hurt Locker, An Education, Blind Side and Inglorious Bastards. She didn’t stay for Inglorious Bastards though.  I am not sure which movie will win, but I will guess that Avatar will. 

Happy Anniversary

Jamie and I are celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary today. We are celebrating by going to the Bonefish Grill. We have been there before and always liked what we eat. The other reason we are going there is because they sent us a $10 gift card for our anniversary. I always join mailing lists for restaurants and my favorite stores just so I can get some free stuff. I hate to buy anything that isn't on sale or without a coupon. Although I really don't use coupons at the grocery store, but I also wait to buy stuff until it's on sale. Okay, I got way off topic...

4 years down and 46 to go! Hmm... that means we will be 77 and 78 years old when we hit our 50th anniversary. We will have to plan a huge party for that one. Mom and Dad are having their 40th wedding anniversary this April! Very exciting! And Julia is turning 4 tomorrow, so Happy Birthday a day early Julia!
